The fish skins, scales product coming from fish industry, are a fully-fledged RAW MATERIAL used for the manufacture of food and pharmaceutical ingredients. For this reason, beside regulatory requirements, there is specific for the quality of the skins (freshness, scales content, presence of meat residue) must be controlled perfectly in order to obtain an end-product that complies perfectly with the present set of specifications.
In addition to the regulatory requirements, there are ISO and IFS standards which integrate the selection and assessment/follow-up phases of suppliers.
